In today's lesson, I investigated a number of fonts at the site dafont, to possibly use on our digipak and album artwork, whilst also thinking up possible images for the design as well.
After looking through a couple of fonts, I found a font called 'Heroes Assemble' in the categories Techno, Various (See Right). This font immediately hit me as one which might be associated with heroes (not only due to the name) and also sparked a connection in my head, as heroes are often found in emergency situations - thus this might be a good font to keep in mind. To me, the font also conforms to the genre. This font was also useful because there were a number of different variations that could be selected.

When looking for images, I typed in the word 'emergency' in google images, which brought up the 'emergency exit' logo. Initially, I thought this itself might be an image that we could consider using, however once I looked at the implications of the font, I had the idea of manipulation this image to incorporate some sort of cape or clothing that a superhero might wear, to essentially mimic it. This could then be used as a sole image on the front of the digipak, which I spent a short amount of time constructing this evening, to get an initial idea of what it may look like.
In addition to this, I have developed a further idea, which would be to double layer the fonts, which would make them stand out. The 'Emergency' title could also have a blue shadow, which would connote the idea of flashing emergency lights. The positioning and shape of the 'Emergency' logo could also be changed to symbolise an alarm.
ReplyDeleteI really like the print work you have made it looks brilliant. I feel we should use this idea with a bit of tweaky it will be ideal.
ReplyDeleteI like the relevance of the idea however I feel in order to be more creative and show are skills of photoshop maybe something more developed but this as the base theme?
