On Thursday, we spent periods 2&3 as well as lunch filming footage for our studio performance shots in the small drama Studio. We were joined by Sam Horlock, and were all dressed for the performance, whilst we also had three microphones (for the lead singer and two guitarists), a drum kit and amps and guitars which were supplied by the guitarists.
When we first attempted the performance, we had a problem with the authenticity of our performance - it was clear that Alex didn't know how to play the drums, and in some shots it looked as if we were mouthing the words. Some chords also looked out of place. We also had a problem with the backdrop, which was brown and looked hideously out of place. Our second attempt was much more successful, as we were a lot more frenetic in our performance, however the Grain on voice when Cameron was singing didn't always appear to fit.
On our final attempts, We stressed the chorus a lot more and turned the volume of the track down so we could hear ourselves, and came out with a performance that pleased all of us. In addition, we also played around with lighting, so the background was no longer noticeable and made it look like it was a crowd shot of us playing live.
I feel the performance worked very well and stood up to authenticity especialy the way in which Cameron pronounced the lyrics in a similar fashion to the actual song.
