CM: A4 Advertisement

Today I have been creating our A4 advert for our music video. I had a few problems at first with pin pointing an idea but has eventually come together. There is intertexuatlity with the emergency signs, and also with the Pigeon Detectives font. This will help promote the star brand and meta-narrative.
I have created a dominant reading path with the font of the Pigeon Detectives being the largest part of the advertisement, which means the reader will begin at the top then following the arrow down and across. Ending up with Emergency title and the reviews from music magazines. This advertisement will appear on the back cover of NME, with the dimensions of 249mm in width, and 313mm in height, which is the dimensions of this advertisement.

How it was made:

Step 1)
  • I had a blank white background.

Step 2)
  • Then I added the base picture that was taken from our digipak, and adjust the dimensions slightly. Also I downsized the "Emergency man" to make the main focus the Pigeon Detectives font.

Step 3)
  • Then I put in the stars at the bottom of the advertisement to be the last thing that the reader views, and therefore the good reviews will stay in the readers minds.

Step 4)
  • Then I put on the "Emergency" font underneath the bold red line. Which helped to create a dominant reading path.

Step 5)
  • Then I put the reviews underneath the the stars

 Step 6)
  • I put the "Out Now" in the same font as "Emergency" and also the website for the album at the bottom of the advertisement. This is our final piece.

  1. In think after looking at it, changing the album title font was the right decision, as there is now more that stands out on the piece.

  2. I like it, it fits with the theme of the digipak and shows the coninuity between the two pieces and makes it easier to make connections between the two. I like how you have intergrated the rest of the promotional techniques into the piece and the blue works well within contrast to the dark red.
